General Hospital AVIS Medica Hospital has a contract with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
To be admitted for treatment under clinical pathways at AVIS Medica, you must be health insured and have a referral for hospitalization. This referral can be provided by your general practitioner (or dentist), a medical specialist, or a doctor in the diagnostic-consultative block of the hospital, provided there is an indication for inpatient treatment and the condition falls under a clinical pathway. The referral is valid for 30 days until the hospital's outpatient examination.
If there is no availability for planned hospitalization, a waiting list is created. All patients eligible for admission are included in this list, except emergency cases. Health-insured patients on the list are assigned a queue number and admission date. If you have undergone tests in outpatient care before your admission, they may be used for your treatment. If the treating physician deems them insufficient, they will perform the necessary tests within the hospital without sending you back.
Patients must bring the following upon admission: ID card, Slippers, Towels, Toiletries, Underwear
A co-payment of 2% of the minimum wage is required for each day of hospitalization. If you are hospitalized for more than 10 days in a year, no co-payment is required beyond the tenth day. You are also exempt from this fee if your condition is listed in the official exemption list.
This exemption list can be found on the NHIF website: www.nhif.bg, under the section “National Framework Contract” > “Annexes.” www.nhif.bg, рубрика „Национален рамков договор”, подлинк „Приложения към НРД”.
Treatment under a clinical pathway includes up to two follow-up check-ups after hospital discharge.
Important: Be sure to provide your discharge summary (epicrisis) to your GP, who will continue monitoring your health condition.
