Neurology

The Neurology Department specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems.

It operates under a contract with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) for the following clinical pathways:

Ischemic stroke without thrombolysis
Intracerebral hemorrhage
Subarachnoid hemorrhage
Disorders of cranial nerves, nerve roots and plexuses, drug-induced and porphyric polyneuropathy, Guillain-Barré syndrome (without immunoglobulin or mechanical ventilation), peripheral nerve damage
Diabetic polyneuropathy

Vertebrogenic disc and disc-articular non-radicular and radicular pain syndromes.

Patient Admission:

The department admits both emergency and elective patients. Initial evaluations and planning are performed in the diagnostic-consultative office located at Avis Medica General Hospital, which also handles follow-up checkups after hospital discharge.

Diagnosis and treatment are carried out comprehensively and in accordance with modern medical standards, while strictly observing patient rights and ethical medical practice.

Diagnosis is based on patient history, physical and neurological examinations, lab and functional test results, and—if needed—consultations with other specialists such as cardiologists, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, and orthopedists.

Diagnostic procedures include blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, EMG, EEG, evoked potentials, Doppler sonography, and others based on individual patient needs.

Treatment is performed using modern medications, following up-to-date protocols, and supported by a fast and efficient pharmaceutical supply system.

The department maintains close collaboration with rehabilitation and spa centers (Pavel Banya, Ovcha Mogila, Banya village, etc.) and hospices in the Pleven region for follow-up care and support of chronically ill patients.
