Placement of a hip implant new to the country
A team from Avis Medica Hospital - Pleven, led by Dr. Robert Halvadjian, together with one of the leading Swiss surgeons - Dr. Dominique Bosson, has performed two surgical interventions for total hip replacement, in which the new anatomical short stem for Bulgaria - Optimys, was used, allowing a minimally invasive technique and a high level of bone preservation, which is highly indicated in young and active patients.
The operations were performed during a one-day course on hip arthroplasty, organized jointly with Mathys Switzerland and Medical Equipment Engineering Ltd. Surgeons from all over the country participated in the course to exchange experience.
This initiative of Avis Medica Pleven Hospital and MTI Ltd. Bulgaria, as a representative of Mathys Switzerland, gave some of the orthopedic specialists in Bulgaria the opportunity to exchange experience with an established surgeon from Switzerland, and thus increased their qualifications in hip replacement surgery, the health facility commented.
