Neonatology
The Neonatology Department provides comprehensive prevention, diagnostics, and treatment for newborns, including:
- High-quality primary resuscitation for high-risk newborns
- Modern care for both healthy and at-risk infants
- Mechanical ventilation support
- Long-term follow-up and treatment for premature babies and other high-risk groups
- A screening program for early detection of congenital hearing loss in all newborns
- Non-invasive monitoring of neonatal jaundice using transcutaneous bilirubinometry
- Options for both conservative and invasive treatment of neonatal jaundice
- "First Care for My Baby" – an educational program for expectant mothers
- Rooming-in of newborns without separation from the mother
- Critical congenital heart disease screening via pulse oximetry
The department is located on the second floor of the hospital, alongside the Maternity Ward, and consists of two main sectors:
- A sector for healthy babies following the decentralized "Mother/Baby" model
- A sector for babies with increased medical needs
It is equipped with modern medical technology, including incubators, ventilators, monitors, phototherapy lamps, and infusion systems, and is certified as a Level II neonatal care unit.
The department maintains close cooperation with all other clinical units of the hospital and benefits from consultations by highly qualified specialists such as pediatric cardiologists, orthopedic surgeons, ENT specialists, pediatric surgeons, and physiotherapists.
Facilities are available to support mothers during this crucial period, helping them learn basic baby hygiene and breastfeeding techniques.

The department also runs prenatal education programs like "First Care for My Baby," emphasizing the importance of rooming-in and mother-child bonding from birth.
A key priority of the department is to support and promote breastfeeding.

Extensive training in neonatal medicine: nutrition, pulmonary diseases, intensive neonatal care, transfontanelle ultrasound, and abdominal ultrasound in newborns.
